When we can’t be on site, we offer remote support for your business. We use TeamViewer or AnyDesk to do so, because it is simple and allows one use of a secure password at a time.
We often get asked if remote support is safe. Yes it is. It’s mostly for this reason that we use TeamViewer or AnyDesk. It is remote support software that you download from TeamViewer.com or anydesk.com.
When you need help, the person on the other end supplying the remote support needs a user ID and a password to access your computer.
If they don’t have it, they cannot login. The moment you close a session with the person supporting you, the password is reset and you need to give them the new password if they need to log on again.
Your computer can be hacked at any time if you aren’t running antivirus software, even then, it isn’t guaranteed to stop a hacker, and it just reduces the chances thereof.
As far as hacking goes with remote support, no, it’s pretty secure, because all the information transferred between the two computers is encrypted and cannot be hacked during the support session.
The software is built in such a way as to disconnect if there is any interference. The software has developed such security measures to protect privacy, that they are actually built on Bank Grade Security Frameworks.
The only requirement for remote support to work via TeamViewer or AnyDesk is a stable connection to the internet.
With TeamViewer or AnyDesk, we can only access the computer that we connect to and not any other computer on your network if they are secured with passwords.
Most times, we request that you sit by the computer we work on, but don’t move the mouse until we tell you to.
We do this because it helps put your mind at ease as you watch us work, and of course, if you feel uncomfortable with anything we do, you can ask us what we are doing via the chat function, or, you can disconnect the computer from the internet.
Remote support is a great way for us to help you when we can’t be there physically. It saves time and money, but because it still takes our time and resources, we bill for remote support, but at a 30% discount.
